The Hawaiian island of Molokai

 

The Hawaiian Islands are the perfect place for a getaway. The islands offer a wide variety of activities, such as surfing, swimming snorkelling, and land activities such as island hopping. This is a must if visiting Hawaii. Each island is unique in its own way and has something special to offer. The island of Molokai is known as the mysterious island.

Molokai is the roughest of all islands. Here you can relax and it gives the most authentic Hawaiian experience. Due to lack of modernization, the island of Molokai is difficult to visit. By car, you can only cross the country with four-wheel drive. Or perhaps you could rent a mountain bike; this would allow you get to some remote locations not available to you by car. There are two shops on the island that rent bikes, Molokai Outdoor Activities and Molokai Bicycle.

There are two ways to get to the island. Molokai is accessible by boat and by plane. It only has a small airport and you have to leave from one of the larger islands, Oahu or Maui. The easiest way is to sail by boat. If you do not have that much time, make a day trip from Maui. It really pays off!

The most popular beach is known as the twenty-mile beach. It has a barrier reef, which makes for a great snorkelling opportunity. The beach is located near the 20-mile marker of the main highway.

There are two ranches on Molokai. They make for a great horseback riding experience. A guide leads you through the valley from farm to farm. Mule riding is also a very popular activity on Molokai. This time you will explore the valley and the paths by mule. Look out for the company “Molokai Mule Rides” who organize the tours.

Very popular as a pastime on Molokai is hiking. The donkey path that leads to the Kalaupapa peninsula is the most visited route. It offers breathtaking views and impressive landscaping. You get a unique tour in the nature reserve of the Kamakou reserve. Best to reserve in advance because these tours are only available a few times a month. Contact the people in the greenhouse before arrival in Molokai. it is a domain with 3000 hectares of original ecosystems. Among others, a cloud forest and habitats for many endangered plants and animals. Both cliffs and valleys pass the eye on this walk.

Would a Hawaiian island be complete without a golf course? There are two on Molokai. Del Monte originally built “The Ironwood Hills Golf Club” for its employees. This club has a very casual atmosphere. The Kaluakoi Golf Course is located in the condominium community of the resort. Molokai plan resort community is limited by something it is called. The plan is an agreement between legislators and the local population to prevent the island from being over-developed. This plan has enabled the island and its residents to maintain their rural lifestyles. In fact, fishing, hunting and breeding are still among the best top jobs in the island.
