You wouldn’t have really visited Vienna without paying tribute to the music great Mozart, who stayed in that city from his 17th. You can do this in many ways and even turn your stay solely into a music event. You can attend concerts, some of which are free and performed in a church. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria¹¹¹². He was a child prodigy, composing his first piece of music at the age of five¹¹. His father, Leopold Mozart, recognized his extraordinary talents and took him on several performing tours throughout Europe². At 17, Mozart was engaged as a musician at the Salzburg court but grew restless and traveled in search of a better position². While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position and chose to stay in Vienna, where he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas during his final years². He died on December 5, 1791¹².
Mozart was one of the most influential, popular, and prolific composers of the classical period. He composed over 600 works, including some of the most famous pieces of symphonic, chamber, operatic, and choral music¹². Some of his most famous compositions include ‘The Marriage of Figaro‘, ‘Don Giovanni‘, and ‘The Magic Flute‘⁴. His last symphony, the Jupiter Symphony (41), is perhaps his most famous.

In Vienna, Mozart composed many of his best-known works. The city is home to several locations related to Mozart, including the Mozarthaus Vienna, which was his residence and is now a museum dedicated to his life and work[^30^]. The city also houses the Mozart Monument, located in the Burggarten²⁵, and the Bösendorfer Hall in the Mozarthaus, a concert venue²⁶. St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna was the venue for Mozart’s wedding and his body was also consecrated there²⁹.
