What is Marrakech?

Marrakech is a city in Morocco, located at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. It is one of the four imperial cities of Morocco, along with Fez, Meknes and Rabat. Marrakech is also known as the Red City, because of the red clay that was used to build its walls and buildings.

Marrakech is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world with its rich cultural heritage, vibrant souks, stunning architecture and exotic gardens. Marrakech has something for everyone, whether you are looking for history, art, nature or adventure.

Here are some of the highlights of Marrakech that you should not miss:

The palace covers an area of 8,000 square meters and features exquisite Moroccan craftsmanship, such as carved wood, mosaic tiles, stucco and painted ceilings. The palace also has beautiful courtyards and gardens with orange trees and fountains.

The garden is famous for its cobalt blue buildings and exotic plants from around the world. The garden also houses a museum dedicated to Berber culture and art.
– **Medina of Marrakech**: This is the old town of Marrakech, enclosed by 19 kilometers of ramparts. The medina is a labyrinth of narrow streets, alleys and souks, where you can find everything from spices, carpets, leather goods, jewelry and pottery. The medina is also home to many historic monuments, such as madrasas (Islamic schools), mosques, mausoleums and riads (traditional houses with courtyards).
– **Saadian Tombs**: These are the tombs of the Saadian dynasty, which ruled Morocco from 1549 to 1659. The tombs were hidden for centuries until they were rediscovered in 1917. The tombs are decorated with marble, stucco and carved cedar wood, and contain the remains of about 60 members of the royal family.
– **Anima André Heller Garden**: This is a contemporary art garden that was designed by Austrian artist André Heller. The garden features sculptures, installations and paintings by various artists, as well as exotic plants and animals. The garden also offers stunning views of the Atlas Mountains.
